Michelle consistently puts safety first by increasing communication
in the department and supporting strategic, focused, continuing
education for all personnel. In April 2003 she had the guts,
the vision, and the institutional risk management know-how to share
the lessons learned and root causes of a major Coker upset. By
describing their $23 million fire, she became a pioneer in industry
wide safety and reliability education, while effectively and
productively serving the competitive needs of Lyondell-Citgo.
The Coking.com community applauds Michelle’s initiative. Her effort
has stimulated other refiners to share ‘Lessons Learned’ which has
become an industry standard at the Coking.com Safety Seminar. Now
each year refiners from around the world, with the endorsement of
their managers and permission from their legal department, step
forward to share their experiences which help others reduce
injuries, save lives, limit property damage and increase up time.
2005 Coker Person of the Years Award went to Jim Blevins. . .
LCR is a huge believer in the value of
Coking.com. They sent 25 coker staff to the 2006 Safety Seminar.
Their goal is to have all of their operations staff rotate through the
seminar every 4 years.
The award reads:
