MiRO GmbH & Co. KG
- Since startup of its Delayed Coker in 1984, MiRO Refinery
operates a completely closed and virtually emission free
coke-handling system. Over time the process has become largely
automated. Nowadays it is possible to automatically operate and
optimize the drum cycle, drum unheading, coke cutting and
dewatering, as well as the coke transport. This presentation
will give an overview of operational, process safety, and safety
aspects of automated delayed coker operation and a closed
coke-handling system.

Z&J Unheading Technology.
DuraSteel Firewalls and Blast Barriers - DuraSystems in association with PROMAT provides blast and
fire barriers that can and should be installed in a
multitude of areas to protect people and equipment, while also
helping to contain the damage to a limited field.

SchuF Group
- Improved valve maintenance and quality for Delayed Coking - An Industry wide Perspective.
Cetek
- Furnace Coatings for heater applications where
internal coking in radiant section process tubes reduces run
length and restricts throughput. The coating system effectively
improves the uniformity of the heat flux distribution and
reduces the peak to average flux ratio in process tubes of
single fired heaters. This technology reduces the maximum tube
skin temperature, increases run length and charge rate.
GE Sensing
- Bundled Waveguide Sensor Technology provides reliable, low maintenance furnace feed flow
measurements to optimize furnace balance control, reduce tube fouling rates, calculate mass balance/recycle
rates and reduce
maintenance cost.

BP Gelsenkirchen - Dynamic Drum Control.
- In order to both: (A) improve safety (high-level-valve-interlock-system) and (B) maximize feed throughput by optimizing cycle-time, a new control-program has been developed.
DDC (dynamic drum control) includes the following subroutines (full-automated sequences for all drum-handling-steps):
- Drum switching, Disconnecting and Stripping, Quenching, Drilling/Cutting, Pressure test, Connecting and heating up.
- STO (step time optimizer) to stabilize drum cycle time.
- DFR (dynamic forecast report) to optimize maintenance activities and minimize feed losses.
- SFR (schedule feed rate) to meet the integrated production plan.
- HLI (high level interlock) to rule out the incorrect positioning of gate valves.
RuhRPumpen GMBH
- Ruhrpumpen provides a Hydraulic Decoking System on a high
technical level for reliable and safe operation. Remote and
automatic decoking are the next steps to increase the
performance.

DeltaValve -
Since DeltaGuard (2001), DeltaValve has added products to include a
top unheading device, auto-switch cutting tool, drill stem guide
& blow-out diverter, in-line isolation valve, hydraulic power
units & controls, along with turnaround & other field services.
 ConocoPhillips
- Awarded Environmental Recognition for a Coker Refinery - Award symbolizes relationship: a refinery (with a DC), environment, and community. It represents a story
within a story: journey of environmental improvement, community outreach, sustainable
development along with construction of a DC during this journey.
