We are having SO2 emission issues in our heater. The sulfur source is the merox off gas with 4000-7000 ppm DMDS. Does anyone have experience trying to decrease the DMDS level in the off gas. I have been told that a naphtha wash or coalescer may work. Also, what criteria is used for a successful shake test - we use 30 seconds and the common respose to a poor test is to increase o2 rate. Has anyone found that increasing catalyst addition has been more effective than increasing O2?
