It sounds as though you have some sort of restriction in your suction line to the Heater Charge Pump. What is the suction pressure on the Charge Pumps? Have you had any recent coke drum carry-overs? Fluctuation in suction temperature could be caused by the amount of coke the feed has to channel through to get to the suction stove pipe. The slots in the suction stove pipe could be plugging off with coke as the coke level builds. Do you have a Fractionator Recirculation Filtration System? Do you have a Heater Charge Pump suction strainer filtration system? Have you done an infra-ray scan or a temperature survey to determine the level of coke in the Fractionator? You may want to consider raising the Fractionator pressure. Hope this helps you to trouble-shoot the problem.
