It turns out that there was a problem with level instrument. The indication was not real. That has already been fixed. After we did this, we ran a test on our fractionatior. We increased and kept the level over the entrance of the vapors from the coke drums. We waited until the HCGO became black. During this period of time we did not observe any increase in temperature. However, when we returned the level to its normal value, the temperature began to go up, just like it had been doing so far. What we think is that the vapors from the drums boiled their way up through the resid in the bottom of the tower, heating just the resid that was above the vapors entrance. Nowdays, after the level indication was fixed, the problem stopped.
