WYE - What's Your Exposure?By Les Moren Les Moren delivers his Safety Talk "More Precious Than Gold" at the Coking.com Delayed Coker Safety Seminar in Galveston Texas, USA on March 12. 2008. Les draws on a lifetime of experiences, from the white knuckle risks of captaining a boat being pounded in the heavy seas of the Bering Straits fishing for Alaska King Crab all the way to the daily routine of erecting scaffolding for Safway around the cokers at BP's Cherry Point Refinery in Washington State. He gets people thinking about their own experiences and their safety. Before any job, he suggests you ask yourself what your exposure is. Listen to your small still voice if it's telling you that there is a safety problem. BP Cherry Point Refinery is known worldwide for their commitment to safety. The culture is such that anyone and everyone is encouraged to stop a job if they see a safety concern. Part of their safety program is WYE, asking "What's Your Exposure". What's Your Exposure was developed by Curt Brisky in the BP Safety Department. Curt shares the importance of thinking about safety on the job, after work and around the clock. The Safety Committee's WYE program even sends home coloring books to employee and contractor's families to get everyone to be conscious of safety as a way of life. Curt, Les and others share the WYE Safety message at the refinery, at other BP locations and to other organizations around the country. |
